The period of establishing the internationally renowned welding simulation systems has entered a new stage while offering a new basis for the discussion of a new field of education. On the occasion of the second international GSI conference WELDING TRAINER the emphasis of the application and integration of the welding simulation systems is laid into practical education. Have the finger with us on the pulse of time and be involved in the development of modern, virtual education systems for the
education of welders.

In order to transfer the potential of the Virtual Welding Training Systems (VWTS) to education the GSI Bildungszentren Rhein-Ruhr is currently developing the practice-oriented apprenticeship as a power plant welder together with all German power plant manufacturers. The integration of the VWTS to practical education of welders makes the educational welding institutes and their instructors face new challenges and issues. What are the contents and methods of a state-of-the-art curriculum on efficient education? Which steps of education are required concerning ergonomics and occupational health? How can the ever increasing complexity of knowledge about processes, sensitive materials and their fields of application be taught in the ideal case? Moreover, it is important to comply with the requirements of industry in developing the educational modules. The conveyance of a more and more complex knowledge may be made at disposal using the new, computer based methods of education.

The next step
The GSI plans to share its experience on this field during the conference to be held from 26.09. to 27.09.2012 in Duisburg while integrating those who offer education on welding into the stage of development. You may also profit from the reports of experience obtained from practice and the knowledge gained from science and research.

Cooperate with us on the technology for the future of welding education and hand in your abstract of a lecture by 31.01.2012. We would also be pleased to receive your proposal of a topic together with the conceptual idea of a practical workshop.
